Noche De Ciencias: We had the honor of hosting a Noche de Ciencias event (Night of Science) was held in Parkland Middle School on January 15th. We were able to reach out to a younger demographic of students that allowed us to inspire a carrer in STEM from an early start through fun and interactive activities. We had amazing speakers and representatives from SHPE-UMD, SHPE-DC, and UMD’s recruitment department helping to introduce the parents to the resources available to them and their students. This is all done in an effort to increase awareness and enthusiasm that students have towards the STEM fields. In addition, we SHPE-Jr. Committee is now beginning to start a SHPE Jr. right here at Parkland Middle!
